1. What We Collect

To generate your daily ritual, we collect:

• Birth date and time (required for personalized guidance in the paid tier; optional for the free tier)
• Time zone (detected automatically from your browser; used to calculate accurate solar terms and Day Master)
• Optional: your country (used to localize seasonal narratives for Southern Hemisphere users)

If you subscribe to the paid tier, our payment processor (Stripe) collects:

• Email address (for account access)
• Payment information (handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card number)

We do not collect: your name, physical address, phone number, or any biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your birth data is used only to:

• Calculate your Day Master and elemental balance
• Generate personalized daily ritual content
• Display the appropriate solar term and seasonal context

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond providing the service you signed up for.

3. Where Your Data Lives

In the current version (v1.0), your birth data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers in this version.

In future versions (v2.0+), we may store birth data on secure servers (Cloudflare D1 or equivalent) to enable cross-device access. We will notify you before this change takes effect.

Payment data is handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We never have access to your card number or full payment details.

4. What We Don't Do

We do not — and will not — engage in any of the following:

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies
• Use your data to train AI models (yours or anyone else's)
• Track you across other websites or apps
• Send marketing emails without explicit opt-in

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Deletion — request that we delete all your data
• Correction — update inaccurate birth data
• Export — receive your data in a portable format
• Opt out — stop receiving non-essential communications

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use no third-party cookies and no tracking pixels in the current version. The only data stored on your device is your birth information in localStorage, which you can clear at any time through your browser settings.

7. Children

Eastern Ritual is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. International Users (GDPR / CCPA)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including:

• Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
• Right to data portability in a structured, machine-readable format
• Right to object to processing for direct marketing purposes

We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling with your data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will notify you by email (if you have a paid account) and by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days before they take effect.
